S8 Cylinder Head Problem

Hi all,

I have a white 2002 Audi S8 40v .. which is undergoing a cylinder head change in Dubai.

I have no idea why the cylinder heads had too much play and after contacting Audi in Germany they were advised to change the whole heads.

For some reason I have little or no faith in Audi here in Dubai as they have a monoply and provide little paperwork or feedback on the car.

I phoned Audi in UK and they advised me that usually this stems from heat problems yet I have suffered no warning messages regarding oil leakages or overheating.

I am stumped.

They did tune the car at the last service as it sounded with more growl.

I suspect

Has anyone had any problems like these?

Does anyone have a fax number for customer service in Germany?

Hi there, welcome to TSN! beerchug.gif

Sorry to hear about your trouble... What's your engine type BTW? AQH, AVP?

Not heard of cylinder head trouble yet, however there were some issues with the older engines, concearning the coating of the cylinder walls. That was solved in the AVP however, and that would mean changing the cylinder block, not the heads...

What were the symptoms anyway, before you brought the car in?

Anyway, for now here the number(s) you requested:

Für allgemeine Fragen zu Ihrem Audi oder zum Audi Service:

Tel: 0800-AUDI SERVICE oder 0800-2834 7378423

Fax: 0800-FAX AN AUDI oder 0800-329 26 2834

You probably need to drop the 0 and put +49 instead.

Good luck, and keep us posted okay?

Hi,

sorry to hear of another A8 owner having to shell out cash. As guru Sven says, could do with knowing the symptoms ??? Mine had an oil leak on the left hand cylinder head, which eventually turned out to be the head gasket. The dealer did however suggest prior to this diagnosis that it could have had a porous head. This would have led to a complete head exchange. smashfreakB.gif Is your problem along these lines ????

P.S. bit bizarre both heads require changing???

regards

Ben.
