RichE
I have a 1999 1.8T A6 which needs some new wheels badly. I have a set of 4 genuine RS4 18" 9-spoke alloys which I'd like to fit. They are 8.5J x 18112 ET20. Does anyone know if they'll fit my humble car? I think the offset may be 35 and I might be stuffed!
Sven
Hmm, ET for the A6 is 43 IIRC, RS6 is 35. ET 20 could be a bit of a problem, but then again it might just fit. Measuring how muc space you have between the wheel and the arch may tell you something...
RichE
Thanks for the advice.
peterb
[ QUOTE ] Hmm, ET for the A6 is 43 IIRC, RS6 is 35. ET 20 could be a bit of a problem... [/ QUOTE ] Surely the ET requirement has to be judged in conjunction with the rim width (in terms of clearance). Assuming that the new wheels are wider than the originals, a smaller ET will be required to clear suspension components - however, this will increase to possibility of fouling the bodywork. You are quite right that the ET of the 9-spoke 18" RS6 rims is 35, and ET20 is the offset of the standard RS4 wheels.
Sven
I was just saying the 8.5J with ET 35 (or even 30) doesn't need to be a problem - bearing in mind the V8 models have wider arches (IIRC) - but ET20 *might* be right on the edge. The difference between 8J (assuming that's on the A6) and 8.5J doesn't matter that much for the outside arch (which we are talking about). It may be more of an issue not to get too wide a tire, but you can fit the same size to both rims. As said, measure what space you have between the side of the wheel and the inner arch, then you have an indication. F.i., I could get away with another 20mm. mjpleusch
On another note entirely anyone know if A3 or TT wheels will fit the A6. TT wheels seem very cheap on ebay at the moment.
peterb
[ QUOTE ] ... if A3 or TT wheels will fit the A6. [/ QUOTE ] NO!!! They're different PCD.
mjpleusch
Typical. Any ideas about the A8?
Sven
PCD is the same, but make sure all the other values will match your car. (ET, J, circumference) Also think hubcentric if you dwell upon aftermarket wheels. You do not want to hang the wheels on the bolts...
RichE
Doesn't look good. Think I'll sell. Anyone in the UK want a set of immaculate 18" RS4 alloys then?
Sven
What doesn't look good? You don't like 'em you mean? or are they too far out after all? Got a pic? If you want to sell, try the General Marketplace, and the Classifieds (see above).
RichE
They're a little far out. I've got my hands on a nice set of 17's with an offset of 35 which I'll fit soon and post a pic. I think the 18's are better suited to the S6/RS6 with the body kit and lower suspension. Currently selling 'em on ebay. RichE
