Tomk
Ok since the batt of my car blew up on Wends! and was replaced by the aa my car seems to have a fault - though im sure it cant be linked , when the clutch is depressed, or im out of gear say at a roundabout the revs idle from say 500 - 1000, the needle seems to 'blip' between the too, it also happends like that if i knock it out of gear, im also sure the performance is not as good, car feels 'odd' or hesitante sometimes though accelerating, though that may just be me as im worried, car is 98Tsport 68k miles,
Twisted_Rizla
Sounds like it needs a gram of monkey dust blown through the injectors.

BlackGTI
The ECU on most of the VAG are learning ones. Over the past years or months you've own the car its learnt how you drive. If the battery was disconted for more than 10 mins the ECU goes back to factory fresh. so for a good hundred miles it'll have to learn it all over agian. Voodooelie
This is a long shot... But... There is a water temperature sensor which sometimes contributes to the problem you are experiencing with idle! And this could just be just be a coincidental fault with the other sequence of recent events which have taken place? They have been known go at any time and cause this problem. Basically the ECU thinks the engine is cold, then hot, then cold, then hot ... etc etc ... keeps adjusting fueling and timing when it isn't required.
