Gren
What sort of foul smell? I would imagine if the coil packs were going could possibly be a whiff of fuel in the air. You should certainly notice it. Sure its not the aircon. Can make some strange smells.
Tomk
ok i guess thats answered it , the problem cant be that ,there is no engine warning light on , and the smell cant be right, just wondered as i had read in past posts that it smells like rotten eggs
Twisted_Rizla
Have you checked to see if a cat hasn't snuck under the bonnet to keep warm? Might still be there.
Simon_J
The rotten egg smell is caused by excess sulphur being burnt off in the catalytic converter, which usually happens when there is a rich fuel mixture. This happened to me when one of my coil packs failed, but there was a big drop in performance too as it was only running on three cylinders. Since you haven't had a big drop in performance, then maybe it's down a sensor problem which is causing too much fuel to be injected?
