DVD/PLAYSTATION 2 FOR E46 M3 CONVERTIBLE?

Recommended Posts

I'm also interested in a multimedia system with screens fitted in the headrests. For your information I remember seeing a guy driving an M3 cab with these sort of screens. So it can be done but don't know by whom and at what cost.

I've just contacted an installer advertising in TopGear magazine for fitting in my S4 cab and was told that it can't be done though he is going to investigate.

They suggested screens on brackets which they suggested do not look quite as good as the fully integrated screens. I'm not sure about these as the headrest move automatically down when you bring the seats forward to let passengers into the rear seats so may cause some problems.

hi chunky,

installing screens in the headrests of s4 cab is a doddle.

not sure why you were told it cant be done. the headrests are the same as the a4 saloon etc, and have hollow supporting rods that you can feed the wires down if you want to.

any screens designed for headrests (eg thin, with mounting plate to embed in the headrest etc) can be used.

Cabrioj,

I don't know. They inferred that the saloon was possible but for some reason the B6 cab wasn't. Apparently they had tried to do this for one of their own A4 cabs in the past without success.

You obviously have experience that suggests otherwise. Could you suggest somebody that could do this. I'm afraid my diy skills are non-existent as far as cars are concerned and I have little patience. Besides I wouldn't have the confidence to hack into the headrests myself.

However I need something as the kids are driving me mad on longish journeys and I can't enjoy the drive mad.gif

Otherwise I might have to go for a portable solution.

Cheers

hi chunky i do all my own mods (i like to play around with this kinda stuff etc grin.gif) so wouldnt know a specific installation specialist to recommend.

most headrest screens come with installation instructions if that helps and theres loads of info on the net.

but i'm sure i've seen installers for head rest screens that let you send your head rests to them for the inserting etc and they post them back. thats the hardest bit as it takes time and care, the rest is simple wiring and any installer will do that if you dont want to do it yourself.

the only downside with the portable solutions is that you have to hide them away at the end of the journey. its pretty straightforward to wire them up to the 12v socket in the boot etc, if you want the lighter free for phone etc.
