Torque is amazing! up to 4,000RPM but after that no difference and I find that you drive at below 4,000 rpm all the time really anyway (or I do now). well worth £528 - Star Perforance.

You can hear the tubo now! before you could just hear the turbo when going up a hill and at about 2 - 2,500 rpm. Now it's from 2 - 4,000 rpm

Even before but more so now - it does not matter what gear you are in, as long as you are above 2,000 revs it will pull as well in any gear!

At 50mph to overtake I would normally drop to 3rd but 4th is so GOOD! and 5th and 6th for overtaking. wink.gif

Oh I am talking about a friends car wink.gifwink.gif

That sounds just what I'd expect I've heard that on some re-maps the turbo intake pipe can collapse causing loss of boost in 5th and 6th.I'll probably go for a hard (alloy) intake pipe too when I get mine er... my friend gets his done wink.gif I've spoken to Jim at star a coulple of times and he does seem to know what he's on about. He has also put some good posts up in the tuning section. I'll go for it in march . Is the fuel consumption any better under normal driving??...............

So does it die past 4000 RPM or just give the same performance as before the re-map? I loved my S3 as it pulled hard at 2000 RPM and then kept pulling.

It's a shame Audi bottled it and never put the 'Full Blown 225bhp' motor in the S-Line , K04 turbo and all!!!!!!!!!!! ices_blah.gif

K04 Sport I believe on the Sline!

It is now 223BHP! from 187BHP

[/ QUOTE ]

Thats cool and good value 169144-ok.gif BUT.......

the S-Line only has a K03 turbo (it is quite a small unit)and that's what holds it back . Any more power than you have now can only really come from a bigger blower , soz turbo! Some people call it a K03s (sport) turbo but here is a letter I found on another post from KKK

Dear Sir,

thank you for your interest in our products.

First of all, we don't produce any turbo that we call K03S. But I hope I can

answer your questions with the following explanations.

All the following turbos have the same installation dimensions and

thermodynamical performance. The differences are only in the actuator that

opens the turbine bypass valve:

K03-011 (5303 988 0011) 150 hp, 65 N actuator

K03-026 180 hp, 85 N actuator

K03-035 180 hp, 85 N actuator

K03-044 150 hp, 65 N actuator

K03-045 156 hp (Ibiza Cupra), 85 N actuator with 2 ports

K03-049 150 hp (Sharan/Alhambra), 65 N actuator

The 180 hp versions have an actuator with a higher opening force due to the

higher exhaust gas pressure (which is a consequence of the higher boost

pressure). Otherwise the valve would be pushed open by the exhaust gas

pressure.

The following turbos are a further development (since 2000) and have an

improved and slightly larger compressor while using the same turbine (still

with the same installation dimensions):

K03-052 180 hp, 85 N actuator

K03-053 150 hp, 85 N actuator

K03-058 150 hp/180 hp, 85 N actuator

Consequentially, putting a 180 hp turbo on a 150 hp engine will not bring

about any change in performance, but putting on a K03-052/053/058 instead of

the older versions will bring a slight improvement in engine efficiency.

Additionally, with re-mapping the ECU you can achieve about 215 hp without

danger of overspeeding the turbo. With the older turbos, 195 hp is the

limit.

With the K04 that's also commonly used (5304 950 0001) the power output

should not be more than 220 hp. That means, changing a K03-052/053/058

against a K04 does not make a lot of sense.

I hope that these details answer your questions. If you need more info, one

of our service distributors will be glad to help you. Their addresses are on

our website www.turbodriven.com.

32mpg isnt very good though. that means the 3.0 isnt much dearer to run...and thats silky smooth

[/ QUOTE ]

I have a heavy right foot and their is quite a lot of town driving in that. Plus the fact that it has only done 3000ish miles so far, I think 32 is pretty good considering. My Dad has a current 325 Auto and drives it fairly sedately and he certainly can't get anywhere close 32Mpg average, on a long motorway cruise only. confused.gif

As for smooth no it is never going to compete with a good multi but having had an IS200 Lexus that was creamy smooth I can say it is closer than I would ever imagine.

Would it be possible to fit a KO4 in the same place as a KO3 or are they completely different beasts?

[/ QUOTE ]

Yeah they fit alright. You'll probably then need at least a new downpipe or full system then re-map to suit. The sky's the limit with the 1.8t even the lower (high compression) spec. All the main tuners do big turbo upgrade kits ...take a look 169144-ok.gif
