Ian_C
Think so, I'm in. Understandable that it has been overlooked being so close New Year and with people only just going back to work after Christmas. Hardly far for me though, would be well up for a mini-meet, 7:30pm Weds 5th, if anyone else is about. Ian C

Botang
Yep the windmill place, I should be there as usual
nikw
I'll be there, but maybe not in the A8! I did the transmission and filter change between Xmas and New Year, then took a look at my dodgy wiper linkage which had deteriorated to being broken in two places (see attachment). I've bodged it back together until I can find a replacement, but its on the radiator with Araldite curing at the moment and the car's still in the garage on axle stands... nikw
Shao, what better way to recover than in the pub with some car bores?! Well, maybe not. Hope you're better soon. See the rest of you later - my A8 is now (almost) fully working again, and even has new boots . Botang, any chance of a quick go with the VAG-COM please? I've got an ABS sensor warning and I'd love to know which one it is rather than having to pull them all apart.

Botang
Boyd's Ibiza Cupra overheated on the way home so I ended up having to go tow him back. He realised pretty quickly so should have avoided engine damage. Strange symptoms so far, the fans arent working correctly, the water recirculation pump is only working when it can be bothered, but it looks to me as if the main water pump has given up. These are a common failure on the 1.8T's. Its outside mine at the minute so will have a look to see what Vag-Com has to say first.
A8_Tony
Ouch!!! Hope he gets it sorted, at minimal cost and frustration. Good meet again last night chaps
Botang
Follow up diagnosis, 99% sure the water pump has failed, the fans/water recirculation pump was a secondary electrical fault (fuse not making proper contact).
NewNiceMrMe
Under warranty?
Botang
No it wont be under warranty but with a bit of luck it may be back on the road by the end of the day. Its only done 50,000 miles so quite early for a water pump if it turns out to be that.
NewNiceMrMe
Expensive?
Botang
No it should be fairly reasonable, could change cambelt tensioners and everything at the same time but think hell settle for the water pump, cambelt not actually due till 120,
Ian_C
Yikes, hope all turns out well for Boyd and the 'Biza. Strange it overheated so soon, you were taking it steady leaving MK... and would have also done so up the hill with that Jag X Type sat in the layby half way up. Glad Boyd realised his steed had a fever and signalled for a hitch. Matt, ta for letting me scan the CDs, appreciated. Until next time....
