DivineE
DAMN! My car is unlikely to be finished by then (probably 28th feb) but I will see if I can drag out a few other 944 owners from other lists for the action ! As for the replies to my posts I agree good argument the brakes really are alot smaller on a 300zx this is no exageration or p**s take (even if it sounds like it) but the front brakes on the 300zx are the same size as the rears on the 944. The front brakes on the 944 are about twise the size! but porsche always overspec on brakes they're well known for it. P.s Do you need to book tickets to run on the track? DivineE
Doh the car still isn't finished and I'm getting withdrawal symptoms! I havn't driven it since January !!! But I'v had to up spec a few parts due to scored bores etc so now the car is going to be seriously quick (hopefully ) I'm replacing every single part of the engine from the Air filter to the tip of the exhaust!! Not one original part remaining . P.S Hows your car hunting going activa?? Are you the proud owner or have you gone a diferent path? Ben
activa
Hi Ben, I'm actually gonna start looking in earnest this week due to the funds being available from Monday 21st-so if you see a good one for sale let me know. Trouble is,I'm getting fussy after studying the market for the last couple of months. It's gotta be one a of a few colours, must have black or cream leather(not blue, burgundy etc.),must be 91 model with the 968 bridge spoiler, must be near mint and be less than 10k! Don't want much do I???? But hey,it's s second car so for once time is on my side.
djphineart
Whilst the porsche heritage may have stood the test of time for many years ask todays teenagers what they think they will be driving in a few years time? What wins the races on todays playstation games? Answer hotted up jap cars. I recently asked a 17 year old relative what car he would buy having won the lottery? Ferrari? suggests I. "no way they are menopausal" A veilside HKS'd up Skyline GTR was the dream car. As for your aging porsches? Porsche is a heading towards heritage business I think. The Japs are doing to cars what they did to motorcycles a generation earlier only slower and more stealthy. Watch Toyota & F1. Last year on the spiderman theme ride at Florida who makes the vehicles kids? Toyota......Get em young!
activa
Firstly, welcome to TSN! Unfortunately though I have to disagree with your first post! If the Playstation was Italian it would be Ferrari that wins the races,if it was German it would be Porsche etc.-not a convincing statement I'm afraid. And to be honest, the fact that 17 year olds crave after performance Jap cars is enough to make me never want one. Remember,17 year olds also read Max Power! shao_khan
Just seen this debate raging. If you are in the Northampton area - be good to see you guys at the Milton Keynes meet - we do actually have a 300 owner who already attends (usually comes in his A8 though). DivineE
Sorry I'v been offline for agez! Shao khan you go to the MK meetup?? Which car do you drive? I'v never seen another 944 there? Also there are three 300's one of which 'the white one' is owned by my friend Will. Do you know the blue one or the black non-turbo? Is the silver 911 yours? DivineE
Oh... I just read the link! You are refering to another meetup? I didn't realise there was one? I usually attend the sunday night meet at the hockey stadium. It's pretty good and has recently grown to three car parks! Probably 200+ cars attend but a large number of them are chavs in fiesta's. There are probably 30-40 real cars there but aslong as you don't park in the main carpark (use one of the adjoining carparks) its worth attending Ben
shao_khan
Hi Mate, sorry for the confusion this is a Tyresmoke meet on a weekday, not the one at the Hockey stadium.
Stepa1007
I am an ex-silver Rose (944 Turbo S) owner. I never raced a 300 TT but I have in my 350 BHP 928 GTS (5.4 V8, 32v, 4 cam). It was one of the car modified by 'Fairlady' with a race bodykit, suspension and tarted engine. It matched my car for acceleration better than an Audi S8 or one of the new baby Ferrari's and the handling was top notch. According some Nissan club guys at the NEC a fairlady is 400+ Bhp. Very good car but the 944 Turbo is a true supercar.
