We need to review your Sooty insults and remarks since being a Cab owner. We also need to know if you're getting over 50mpg often. Applications take 7 days to clear. Rustynuts
OK lads, the goal posts have been moved. Richmond, North Yorks down to Harwich docks, 71.8 mpg! Then continuing on over in Denmark to run a full tank of diesel out, achieving 816 indicated on the odometer as the "Please refuel" light came on. Add to this 30 est. miles before the journey started (getting home from filling up, trip to mother in laws to drop keys off etc) and the 60 plus miles available from the reserve in the tank, this would achieve 900 + miles from a single tank. All done with 4 passengers, and a car loaded to the gills with luggage. Further running overe there, and then a final fill up just before heading back, we left [south of] Copenhagen with a full tank, travelled all the way across Denmark, and then back from Harwich to North Yorks to arrive home with half a tank left. Any takers for the 70mpg club?

UBM
No chance. I can maybe do the 50 mpg though. Looking like 720 out of a tank at the moment. 70L of diesel (presuming the tank is completely empty when the 0 miles to go displayed, which we know it is not!) is 15.42 gallons. Equates to 46.8 mpg....
danksy
No way, with the extra weight of the quattro drive train, I will never break 70mpg. (Unless I coast downhil)

Ian_C
[ QUOTE ] Yes indeed we can can't we?? Have you got one yet Ian?? [/ QUOTE ] No, still a long way off sadly. (you looked at my profile or just guessed?!?) The only way I will ever be able to finance one of the beast in the near future will be after 4 or 5 years of depreciation. Although I would love a Noggy B5, realistically I cannot justify the running costs at the moment. 15k - the tiny amount needed to buy even a mint 2001 Avant - also goes a long long way towards house renovation. Good things come to those who wait as the saying goes. Ian

Hopsta
Rules have changed dont forget, its not just a single driving Miss daisy style trip. You need to do it over a month, mileage immaterial.
Milo
I drove my A4 like a granny on the recent trip to Scotland with driving in between (828 miles total) and still only managed an average of about 58 mpg. Even going up at a steady 70 (coasting downhill), using the miles covered plus miles before I hit the reserve it still only worked out at about 63 mpg. 70 mpg out of an A4 is an impossibility and anyone who says they can do it is a fibber!
