UBM
In the case of the expected snow and ice actually occurring just thought I'd remind everyone who does not have quattro or 4WD that quite a few of us TSN'ers have had minor and not so minor bumps, scrapes and scratches recently. Remember, stopping distance increases 10 times and to steer into the skid! Don't do what a did many moons ago coming off our estate and apply the brakes miles behind the missus car, but not stop in time and shunt her! Colin M
And don't forget, 4WD might enable you to put the power on the road, but all cars have four wheel braking, so your quattro system makes piddle all difference to the stopping performance. Combine that with wide low profile tyres and you're car really isn't set up for icy roads. Be careful out there. I'm just about to set off for the Alps and had fun practising fitting and removing snow chains as I have never used them before. Had the A4 for 3 months now and managed to put just over 1k on the clock. By the end of next week, I will have trebled the mileage. Pics & review to follow. [/ QUOTE ] Have a good time Colin not at all jealous honest :-) You have hit the nail on the head with what you have said. I had Quattro on my old A4 and it was great to get you moving, but the extra weight actually made things harder to stop not better, frighteningly so on occasions.
