mowgli
Hiya, I quite fancy one of these PDA's with TOM TOM 3 on it. Any advice as to which package and best place to buy it would be great. Thanks in advance.
CarMad
Hello and welcome to TSN. Have a look in the review section. Tomtom has been discussed a few times in there. I have Tomtom 3 on the Palm T3 and its great. Have all the speed cameras and POIs on it the lot. Have a look at Pocket GPS as well as here. You will find lots of info. RobK
I'm not really sure which of the current PDAs is the best, but I've got an iPaq 2210 with TomTom 3 and a Fortuna 'Clip-on' Bluetooth GPS receiver. It works very well and you can run it for an hour or so without having to plug anything in. http://www.globalpositioningsystems.co.uk/ is a good place to buy this type of thing, also http://www.expansys.com/

Tomk
do people prefer the bluetooth tomtom or wired??? im thinking of getting a new PDA - have a toshiba e330 and it never seems to work properly its the wired one and though the bluetooth adapter may be better to get,
Big_Dan
I have wired and bluetooth versions. Bluetooth is obviously much neater - but only for the first couple of hours of the journey. I am always worried that the battery is going to die when I'm completely lost. You then have to plug everything in. I didn't realise that you can also plug the TomTom BT GPS into the TomTom cable that is powering your PDA, so all is not lost. So in sumary, if you're going to have to plug everything in anyway, go for the cabled as it is more reliable. What I would be more interested in is one of these new BT car kits that has a GPS built in as well. Only 1 bit of kit to keep charged then! Tomk
the thing that is nice abuot the bluetooth one though is that you never need to buy new cables , as you upgrade it will still work ...
mowgli
As another option, what about a laptop?? Can I get software etc. I realise it would be a bugger to stick to the screen though... Just a thought, a laptop would be more useful to me afterwards than a PDA and I could probably replace my desktop PC with it.
