A4CabGirl
I have noticed recently that when slowing down the car feels like its about to stall, but never does. Some days its worse than others. Has anyone else had this problem with a multitronic ? Thanks A4CG
Chav
yes i get that sometimes if i'm in D mode at lights. i tend to keep the car in S mode as a rule though. the CVT box is holding the car at such low revs it occassionally has to give it a spurt to prevent stalling i guess. a couple of chaps on here have had their CVT's replaced but cant remember what their actual symptoms were. Phantom
I had a problem with mine after 14k , at the time it was a known problem and mine was replaced under warranty. If you drove in traffic , when you apply the brakes and almost come to a stop the revs would fluctuate from 1500rpm to 500rpm and yes it often felt as though it was going to stall for no reason. This mainly happened from when I drove the car from cold. Interestingly once the car had warmed up , say 20-30 minutes the problem seemed to go. I would keep an eye on it if I were you, the last thing you want is for the car to stall at an awkward moment. Let us know how things go
Chav
did you have any other problems Mark or did they just replace it as a precautionary measure?
Phantom
I had a very good service manager who understood exactly what I was going on about, and at the time he had just seen a service bulletin from Audi describing exactly the problem I was describing. When you pay that sort of money for a car you want it to run properly, so I had it done as a precautionary measure. He just said to get it replaced. Same guy that gave the go ahead to give me another two steering racks ! The CVT is a great innovation in transmission deisgn and hats off to Audi for launching it !, especially with its design links to a DAF variomatic. Once you get use to it, ie the quirky constant acceleration , it is great

Phantom
, rare I know but nice to be able to deal with a service department that looks after your car properly and actually listens to what you have to say, which was quite often a year ago !, for the record, Listers Audi Coventry, top dealership IMHO
A4CabGirl
Thanks guys, will get in touch with my local Audi centre. Won't hold my breath though.... maybe I should get out the nice helpful young man from Audi assistance. He was very good when I had problems with my A3. Anyway, very late now.. off to bed. Night Night !

Thanks A4CG [/ QUOTE ] CVT - My favourite subject Just refused third gearbox, not accepting anymore repairs, hence part exchange... Look out for; - whining noises above 50mph which in my case turned into a deathening noise - clutch judder, some CVT's need the additional clutch plate - lunging when coming to a stand still - clunking noises mine does the opposite to stalling and revs lunging me forward. If your not happy get it replaced. Take no crap off any dealer, when they go wrong they really go wrong.
