E34 Odometer Display

I'm a newbee here as I just purchased a '95 525I and I'm looking for information regarding changing the light bulb(s) that allows the odometer to be read. The dealer tells me I have to remove the steering wheel and the instrument cluster to get to the bulb that needs replacement. I'm thinking I can do this myself but I could use some advice from someone who has already done this bulb replacement and knows how to tear into the dash. Therefore, if anyone out there has done this or knows a link to an article on the web that explains what needs to be done, I really appreciate it. My E34 is in great shape except for this light bulb.

Thanks in advance,

Rick

Hi Rick

There are two small phillips screws securing the clocks to the dash facing upwards at the top of the cluster, take these out and you should be able to wiggle the cluster towards you. Make sure the steering wheel is upright and once you have enough room disconnect the plugs from the cluster, turn the cluster lengthways and they will slide easily through the centre of the steering wheel,i think the bulbs are hard to grab so use some long nose pliers to get in there, its been a while but i think thats how i did it!

Good luck...
