Nearly a Golf 150 TDI owner - worried it's a 130

Hi all, my first post here so apologies if this subject has been covered time after time before.

My local VW dealership is about to sell me a Golf 150 TDI (2002, Black) however after quickly the checking some of the On-Line insurance websites for a quote, the registration number revealed it to be a 130bhp Golf.

Naturally being a bit worried about this (no disrespect to the 130s) I'm planning on going over & having a luck just to make sure I'm getting the car I want. I know the alloys are different on this car (but they could have stuck those on afterwards), can anyone tell me how I can put my mind at rest by telling me how to spot the signs that this really is a 150?

Of course the database could be wrong. But any help appreciated.

Cheers

O

Have a look at the front of the car, down below the bumper line and in the middle. Is there a bloody big intercooler in the middle or a small one over on the drivers side? 150 has a big front mounted intercooler and 130 has a small side mount intercooler.

Insurance quoting websites are crap at knowing what your car is, and you have to tell them exactly what you want to insure, and then they sometimes get it wrong again.

Aye, dads tractor always comes up as the intercooled HDi 110 when in fact it is only a 90. Trim level is also wrong - and even saw it once come up as an estate when it is a 5dr hatch!

Reference the insurance, tell them everything. For example, if basic manufacturer alloys and aircon were factory options, get them to acknowledge it in writing.

Morgano, in the boot, in the spare wheel well, there should be a little sticker with all the details about the car. On that, there should be a power rating (probably in PS), what does it say? Im not sure what 150bhp is in PS, but im sure someone can help smile.gif

Don't worry about Insurance quotes telling you the wrong thing.

Egg Insurance still don't think Audi made a 130 TDi without Quattro until I argued with them for 20 minutes. They then charged me £15 to amend my policy to a 130bhp from a 115bhp.
