corruptdave
Ok...to add to my growing list of problems, my power steering is really starting to annoy me. At slow speeds or basically any speed, the slower the louder and the closer to full lock the louder my car whines. Strangely theres no warning light for it, but I dont know what would show up if there was. Im guesing its my pas pump on the way out, what do you guys rekon? im already having to get my steering angle sensor replaced this week, gonna cost a fair bit, dont think it could be becasue of this do you? Ahhhhhh, really want my car to run fine . Thanks for any opinions. Cheers Dave (by the way, my steering doesnt feel heavy)
Chillihead
Most of my cars have done this and I have visited many mechanics, answer always the same. Nothing to worry about, just the norm! Oh well?!?
dgl
I had this on my A4 Avant, had to have the rack replaced. No idea on cost as it was done under warranty.
Simonl
CorruptDave, have you had the power steering belt checked?
corruptdave
nope....but I guess thats going to be my next point of call, to be honest Ive only had it attached to an official audi vag-com thing which told me about my steering angle sensor (but thats why my airbag light and esp light are on!). Havent had it looked at proper yet, just trying to get an idea of what it could be.... Cheers Dave
Simonl
Power steering belts that are worn, will whine/slip under extreme pressure (ie: full lock) The slower you go the more pressure there is on it (which makes sense). I think they're pretty cheap to replace.
