collease
My mk4 golf is not just ticking over at a standard level of revs. When first starting it sits at about 12K until you start on your journey then it sits just below 9k. If you go for a long drive and pull up at traffic lights the engine just seems to have a mind of its own. it never stays in one place it jumps irratically and then drops to near stalling then jumps back up. Is this to do with my throttle body being dirty as i was quoted by my dealer. Is there anything i can do that could cure the problem without a major trip to the garage again. Any help is greatly appreciated.
felixthecat1
Try cleaning the plugs with sone wire wool. See if the air filter is bloked in any way, leaves can get in and give you a problem. Failing that try adding an addative to the petrol tank. I don't generally like 'em but you never know, it might help.
