Navigation Plus in a 2001 single din B6 A4

Hi all

I have a CD based sat nav, + GPS aerial + Adapter Lead. I now would like to fit this to my 2001 A4 (B6 chassis). What else do i need. I have read some of the forums and they mention that i might need a TMC/CAN Gateway, can anyone confirm this (having the directions on my DIS isn't that important to me) the next problem i have is the single din to double din convertion, I have found the parts from VAG parts that i need for the convertion. I have read that i need to trim the sides of my Aircon to make it fit the taper of the console, Has anyone done this, is it possible? Whats the best tool to use, sander, dremel etc?
