Ers
Have a 1998 passat 110bhp. Took the internal air con radiator out and changed it due to a problem with the air con. But when we put the dash all back in place the the car would not start and the immobilzer kicks in. The immobilizer warning light on the dash flashes. I'm using the original vw key that came with the car. Any help would be very greatful need to get the car back on the road.
autolocksmith
On your vehicle the immobiliser is incorporated into the instrument cluster. When you removed it the Control Module most probably locked. If you have or know anyone with VAGcom go into 01 Engine - Read and clear fault codes. If that doesn't work go into 17 Instrument Cluster - Read and clear fault codes. You may have to realign the instrument cluster. The procedure is available for download on the VAGcom website.
