Took the car to the stealers to get the ATF changed but they told me they couldn't connect to the Tranny control module so therefore couldn't check the temp of the fluid and were not going to fill it up.

My TCU doesn't respond to VAGcom i.e no connection. Anyone know how to check the k line or know of similar probs and what to look for. I'm trying to elimiate all other possibilities b4 residing to the fact that a new £800 TCU is needed, Doh! frown.gif

Was that just a safety thing, they didn't want to drop the oil in cast it would scald a mechanic and he'd sue them for all their stock and the MDs house in san Tropez.

If the TCU isn't causing any problems just find a specialist to chage the transmission fluid, it's not hard to do by the looks of it

The K line is a single green wire from the back of the diag plug, this then goes into the multiconnector and splits into as many ECU as you have on the car.

The fact it reads other ECU tells you the wire OK to the multiconnector. you will have to check the wire from there to the Autobox ECU, That might have a break in it.

where is this multiconnector, tobes? Behind the centre console? Cant i simply look for the green wire in the harness where it conects to the TCU in that black box and do a continuity check between there and pin 7 (K line) on the hex socket? Wouldn't that confirm a broken link?

Also the car runs fine, I in advertantly pushed the tiptronic lever to select a lower gear the other day when I was at high revs, but it didn't shift down thank God; as i understand it the TCU doesn't allow you to shift down to prevent damage etc. so it must be working , right?

sorry for the Loads of Q's grin.gif
