ok am i right in thinking this is a long code in hex

BF/0F/03/40/07/01/01 essentially which should all convert to 8 character binary codes.

but they dont which is i guess whats saying its an invalid code

0F and 40 for example neither give an 8 digit binary

ok its sorted now

with help from the vag com support guys on their forum

basically i was on the right lines with the byte 3 (40) being wrong but where 40 hex is 1000000 u just have to assume its 01000000 and then change bit 3 to on 01001000 and then reconvert back to hex (48) and then recode lol

once recoded the fault is gone and all is well
