just bought a fantastic looking 944 and looking for two bits of advice.

1) can anyone recommend somewhere to service the car in the chester area.

2) there seem to be alot of chipping or similar products on ebay ranging from £3-£200 to improve performance. i'm interested as its onlythe 2.5 version. Is it worth it and if so what should i go for?

I get all my servicing dun in a place near henley on thames prob a little to far for you! Have a look in 911 and porsche world magazine for garages! As for chippin not sure but it's sumting I've thought about also!

Can't see that a chip is gonna make hardly any difference to an N/A version. With the turbo's it'll give 30-40bhp but then it's much easier to get power from them than the N/A cars.I personally would spend the money on something else 'cos at £2-300 it sound like a lot of money for minimal gains. 169144-ok.gif

Having had a 944 and a 944 turbo-not much you can gain hp wise for the non turbo-

A Good tip though is to fit a throttle response cam-makes a BIG difference, only about £20 I think and v.easy to fit-you can find them in any of the advertisers in 911&Porsche World. No extra HP, but car feels faster as it accelerates quicker.

Also a decent exhaust system - but a lot of money for not much gain.

Basically not a lot you can do to increase Hp.

i live near chester and get my 944 done at RG Lewis in Harthill. that's near Tattenhall. a google search will turn up their contact details. they seem to know their stuff - a little lackadaisical at times and you have to chase them when ordering parts, but they are the nearest specialist i've found locally.

i haven't chipped, just fitted a K&N air filter and stainless exhaust. it's made a bit of performance difference.
