silentandy
Just wondered if anyone has had a remap done on their MKV GTI yet? If so what are your experiences of it, how much did you pay, where did you get it done etc? There seems to be a fair few companies around offering this now, but the prices and gains vary. shao_khan
I think that theer will be a few at Castle Coombe VW day this weekend, if I am right I think VW Racing, AMD and Miltek will have modded cars there.
N3WOB
SK, did VW give their approval to AMD for their work provided you arrange through them?
shao_khan
Nah in theory there is still no VW approval direct for the mods. VW racing will be offering all these services to the general public, but you still have the issue that in theory VWuk would not honour the warrenty of any parts affected should a failure occur. In saying that havign met the management of VW Racing, I cannot imagine that they are goign to offer anything that causes a problem or leave you in a position where your car is broke as a result of work they have done. IN Germany you have tuners like ABT and Oettinger who appear to work with the factories and I think Oettinger do a lot of work direct with VW in Germany as do ABT with Audi in developing aftermarket stuff. Richy
Just out of interest. How do remaps and stuff affect insurance premiums (assuming you tell them)
shao_khan
Always tell them - As far as I am concerned the car is too expensive to risk being uninsured in the event of total loss. My TT with +22% power worked out at an extra 15% on the premium first time and then 10% extra when I reinsured with Tesco.
