I am not talking of the menu driven restore of the factory defaults (under the settings menu), but of a "hard reset" type of thing like a computer. Turn on, press 'NAV', press-and-hold (5+ secs) top left quadrant, press-and-hold (5+ secs) top right quadrant. Then look through the menus until you find the reset option.
