To power wash or not to power wash......

That is the question, I power wash the ol gal every week, as by the end of the week, the underside and wheel arches are thick with undergrowth, shopping trollies and [censored].

No harm as yet to the bodywork, even around the numerous stone cips that I collect.

Very handy in the summer to assist bug removal, and losens up the crap on the wheels with extreme ease.

Buy yourself one for xmas, and as a bonus your can jet the drive as well, tongue.gif

I've got a Bosch power-washer I bought from Screwfix.com.

It's the dogs 'nads and comes with 3 different heads - one for spraying shampoo onto the car (not used), one for blasting dirt of your drive (this will take off your paint if you use it on the car, and a third which has either a direct high-pressure jet (for getting road-kill off the underside of the car) and a wider spray which is useful for getting general cak off before washing and then rinsing afterwards.

I'd highly recommend a pressure washer if you haven't got one.

One note of caution though, make sure the jet isn't pointing directly at one of the edges of your number plate as it has caused mine to de-laminate in a couple of places where I accidentally sprayed it. Not expensive to replace, just a PITA!

I bought a karcher jet wash a month or so ago..included was 3 heads (power wash {spinning}power wash and a brush head)

Spent around a £100 which might seems a little expensive (there are alot dearer than that!) but when i worked out what i was spending a month on the car wash £5 a week roughly [£20 monthly!!] it soon pays for itself.

Add to that it cleans my decking and patio great (2 dogs get it muddy!!)

Clean the drive,windows...jesus it well worth the money.

Am a bit wary of using the spinning power head washer jet on the car as that is bloody powerful (took the stain out of my decking!) but hte standard head is fine, can even mix in the shampoo to the machine.

Think Ive probably nearly got my money back now.

Highly recommended!

(p.s .. i dont work for karcher!in case your wondering! wink.gif)

remember seeing a cheap power washer in b&q when i went and got my karcher one,as i recall it was green and looked a little cheap(£50),then again it probably did the job! personaly think its better going for a good brand with decent accessories, and karcher fitted the bill! hasnt dissappointed me yet anyway.

Just need to keep finding things to clean!!!! grin.gif

I have a Karcher and the spinning brush is excellent on the car. It's nice and gentle on the paint but gets into all those little places that are a real pain normally. I've been using it for ages on my wifes A4 and now also on my RS6. I've had no concerns about it being too vigorous for the paintwork.

Cheers

Paul

I assume we're talking about the same "spinning brush" ?

Mine is the yellow Karcher brush where the centre brush spins an a planetary gear system and the outer ring stays put. It's supposed to be specifically for cars.

I don't know about brave, initially niave maybe, but it's been great...... so far smile.gif
