Simonl
Guys, how long did you have to wait to get confirmed build dates? I've got an estimated build of week 42, but i would have thought a confirmed build date would have been available by now? 3-4 weeks since deposit! They quoted 12 weeks at the time of ordering! Red??? your view would be appreciated!?! How was it for you!
allanon_1980
I ordered mine at the start of january and traded in my car there and then as my stealer told me i would take delivery in 10 weeks. Rang him after 8 weeks to be told it was delayed, rang again delayed, etc etc ended up at the end of april being told delivery end of may MAYBE so I cancelled for order got list for my trade in back plus a few quid extra and bought the next laser blue i saw for sale. SMB
an orde ronly goes prodcution confirmed about 3-4 weeks prior to build, until that point u can change spec, after that no changes are allowed. So build week should be listed earlier, but it won't be ' confirmed'
RedRobin
Hi LeMan - I was quoted 12 weeks total too. I think I was told build date (week starting) 2 weeks after paying deposit. They kept to the quoted 12 weeks
jason_s
was quoted 12 weeks, has come in in 10 words cannot express my happiness

jamiey
Mine is supposed to be being built this week... But I haven't heard anything... Do you usually get a "in production" call from the dealer?
Simonl
No, phone them and ask. If it's confirmed, it's confirmed!
RedRobin
I had a particularly friendly salesman and he phoned me. He also phoned me at the same time that he saw the road transporter arrive and pass his window with my red GTI on the back. He no longer works at VW! WhiteHArtMart
After many 'phone calls to my dealer they have told me that my car is also 'confirmed for build week 42'. Looks like it'll be a race between me and LeMan to see whose dealer gets it first - although I guess living in Cornwall gives me no chance!!! Simonl
Well mine comes from west dorset! so it'll be close! I was even thinkin' of popping down to devon whilst i'm there to catch a few waves
WhiteHArtMart
Well if the collection dates happen to be the same - could always do a meet up to compare our nice shiny new motors!!
wanderinghand
I ordered mine one week ago and was given no build date, but quoted "Mid November" as a possibe time. I don't believe that for a minute, though. No build slot confirmed as yet.
RedRobin
WhiteHart & LeMan - Your nice shiny new motors could look even shinier if I bring my car along too. The back is filthy from driving for hours in the recent rains....The Mk5 rear seems prone to it.
WhiteHArtMart
I know what you mean Red - rain and west country muddy road combination isn't great for keeping the motor looking great!! But hey 3 GTIs to compare would be ace regardless of that!!
RedRobin
True but I'm finding that it's all the spray kicked up from the back on dual carriageway motoring which is the worst. I must check the handbook to see how to set the rear wiper on intermittent. Keep us informed of the date in mid-November.
aswall
Robin, my rear wiper has only one setting and that's intermittent
RedRobin
Cheers Aswell - I've so far only being flipping the stalk away to wipe just once and then flipping back immediately after - Hence I haven't yet discovered what you are saying. Thanks
aswall
The timing of the sweeps seems about right, I've had a few long motorway journeys in torrential rain and it flicks just at the time you'd do it yourself if you were doing it manually. I think from now on it'll be getting a lot more use
