ClimberSP
Well, it's simple, the New R32 it's a very impressive car...Just take a look to this numbers, and they are with manual gearbox, I think that the DSG I will leave it to others... 0-100: 6" 0-200: 25"4 More info: http://www.bmwfaq.com/showthread.php?t=77430
Mook
[ QUOTE ] 0-100: 6" [/ QUOTE ] Holy smoke - 6 inches to 62 mph... What a ridiculous comparison to make - the Opel Astra OPC (a.k.a. Astra VXR in the UK) versus the R32. Surely they should have compared the OPC with the Golf GTI. There's no accounting for knowledge in the motoring press. And at €28,000, the Astra is one expensive car...
jagseven
Two things: The Astra seems rather slow given it has 240 bhp - the effect of front wheel drive?. I reckon the R32 looks pretty good in black.

Surely they should have compared the OPC with the Golf GTI. [/ QUOTE ] If the Astra's running 240bhp,then I can see why they wouldn't test it against the 197/200bhp Golf GTI. It's much closer to the R32's output, makes sense IMO!

[/ QUOTE ] The Astra has serious amount so torque steer and it's very difficult to get power down, even in the dry, you can forget about accelerating out of a wet corner The Golf has 4wd and will murder the Astra on country roads, plus we've got a better badge and interior, no contest for me
v6tas
Have to agree, anyway Vauxhauls are really the "Amstrad" of the car world IMHO. Rather have a Skoda !!

shao_khan
Astra looks better, is probably better built, discounts available so more car for your money and as for VW being the better badge - that kind of thought pattern accounts for why the VW dealer network is so bad - they dont need good quality and service while people still think the product is superior. And VW in the BTCC? Dont think so - they know they cant compete, so they have the VW cup instead where they dont have competition from others!!!! Mook
[ QUOTE ] And VW in the BTCC? [/ QUOTE ] That's why they have Seat in the BTCC as their "sporting brand" of the group. Shame Plato has lost his touch... You could sell me an Astra OPC or VXR for 28p and I'd still give it straight back. Not that I don't agree the VW dealer network is in between fair and totally feckin useless...
Moschops
The Vauxhall network and customer service is just as bad as VW's Take from me I know and have had dealings with both (recently)
hotdog
Me too! Had the STOP check lights come up on the Vivaro last week. Rang SIX, yes SIX vauxhall dealer in the area just to see if they could plug in the Tech2 to see what the problem was. A five minute job. And the replies, sorry we don't do on the spot diagnosis. Absolutely f*****g useless. I'm buying the Nissan version next time Had the R32's brake fluid changed last weekend and yet again, Lindvale VW were excellent.
