Deciding on doing some research b4 i buy these shocks at xmas as its a tough decision. I have H&R 50mm springs with standard shocks and want to upgrade the shocks so it handles like its on rails.

Whats the best shocks that suit H&R springs?

Bilstein

Eibach

Koni

How much did they cost?

Cheers

I have HR springs with Koni's. Not the best combo as the car is stiff but very bouncy. Have tried many adjustments.

My other friend has a Bilstein Pss9 setup. One word "Fantastic". Cost more but transform car handling and very comfortable

Bison didnt know u got a R32, why did u go for a slower car if u were upgrading from an S3.

If ur happy with it then its all good

So which Bilstein do i get are they the Pss9

Heard very good reports of the Koni Yellow (adjustable ones)

Did u guys change the roll bars too?

you need to read the r32 forum mate!

yeah got me an r32... it aint a slower car notworthy.gif ok well maybe slower in a straight line... ROLLEY~14.GIF just a little slower but round corners there is no competition! (ok there isn't THAT much in it.. but it is better) and it can stop with its standard FOUR pot calipers.

i did a full review of the differences between the cars HERE

sorry im thread hijacking smile.gif

Costa, maaaaate, Bilstein with your H&R would be fully sick. Had H&R + Bilstein on A4, best combo ever. HOWEVER, upon attempting to fit that combo on S3, woz told couldn't get Bilstein shocks, and that the only way to achieve Bilstein shocks woz to get either Bilstein coil-over or H&R coil-over (which uses H&R-spec Bilstein shocks).

So if you can get just the Bilstein shocks to go with your springs then that's what I'd do - you won't regret it. VW wouldn't source that combo and stamp them "VW Racing" (for R32) unless it was impressive - remember VW is out to impress with the R32, and all the reviews praise the handling - firm, solid and flat but not uncomfortable.

But to be honest, I don't know why you haven't gone coil-over; I think it would suit you .... you could have the A3 2mm off the ground smile.gif

good to see ur still around Serpent, have u got an R32 now have u?

Well now ive decided to go Koni adjustables cos i can stiffen and soften as i please:)

Reason i bought H&R springs is couldnt afford coils at the time so nows a good excuse to change the shocks as they have worned out considerably as a result of the 50mm springs
