valver
Hi all Picking up wife's new car on Saturday - it's 2001 X reg Passat (B5.5 model?) 20vT Sport. How easy is it to deactivate the passenger airbag, so we can stick the baby seat in the front? Is it a key job, or main dealer computer jobbie?... Cheers
jojo
Noy sure on a B5.5, but on a B5, you need to buy a bypass kit, and have it fitted at your local stealers, then they have to provide you with a signed letter to show it's deactivated for insurance reasons. It only deactivates the passenger one BTW, all the others still work.
pugboy
Mine had a receipt from the main dealer in the service history folder showing that the previous owner had paid the dealer half an hours labour to deactivate it. However I'm told you can turn it off yourself if you have the vagcom lead/software. I'm getting mine next week and will be turning my airbag back on so will let you know how I get on if you like. valver
I've spoken to local VAG dealer, gave them reg details, and they advised that it would need to have a part fitted to de-activate the pass airbag. Quoted £100 for part/labour inc VAT.
