Passat airbag deactivation?.....

Noy sure on a B5.5, but on a B5, you need to buy a bypass kit, and have it fitted at your local stealers, then they have to provide you with a signed letter to show it's deactivated for insurance reasons. It only deactivates the passenger one BTW, all the others still work. 169144-ok.gif

Mine had a receipt from the main dealer in the service history folder showing that the previous owner had paid the dealer half an hours labour to deactivate it.

However I'm told you can turn it off yourself if you have the vagcom lead/software. I'm getting mine next week and will be turning my airbag back on so will let you know how I get on if you like.

Most people would generally avoid going to the airbag section on vagcom crazy.gif, but goo luck, and let us know how you get on.
