Chav
[ QUOTE ] Aspire to something higher up the image ladder than a BMW please. Merc C Class 320 CDi with new V6 diesel - saloon or estate. Merc ML 270 - MY2004 with huge spec should be within 30k easily, some have family pack as well. Jag X type 2.5 or 3.0 Petrol or 2.0 Diesel Sport Disco3 2.7D HSE MY2004 [/ QUOTE ] None of those are higher up the image ladder though!

Both have the same image though, although less people have ML on their reg plate than X5

Wanna be jag owners buy X Types and then regret it....... Ford gubbins everywhere, only redeeming quality is the V6 engines, the rest is less than 1/2 decent! I've owned one - and that's all they are. I like the Disco's - but it'd have to be a brand new model to interest me. The old ones aren't in the same league. Incidentally...I've just noticed it was an X-Type that was recommended. Well now you ARE having a laugh. I've had a 2.5 SE and can say without any hesitation it is the worst car I have ever owned...by a considerable margin. Slow, unreliable, uneconomical, absolutely disgraceful build quality, naff image, depreciate like rocks trying to float in water...oh, and on top of all that the dealers haven't a fecking clue what they are doing. If you want to ruin someones life - recommend an X-Type.

Sparticus
Only thing that is important when spending in excess of 30K on a car is,,,,,,,,,,image. That's what keeps residuals high. Top 5 cars for holding their value from a recent survey in the Sunday Times : 1. Porsche 911 2. Porsche Boxster 3. Mercedes ML 270 4. Mini Cooper 5. BMW X5 Hence my recommendation for the ML270. These were made in Austria for the European Market and are built better than the American ones. Will carry a family of 4 with ease, 30mpg, will hold its value and best of all you will keep your friends who would all hate you like everyone else on the road if you drove an X5. gino128
good point - and values should be down a bit since the new ml came out! BrianFD3S
alternatively, buy something that is worth damn-all and therefore will not decrease much in value. like a 93 toyota corolla. if i was serious tho, i would get a volvo s80, they are REALLY nice cars, dunno how much they cost tho but i would imagine not over 30k

He even changed hos perfectly "nice" S60 for the new S80... The Lexus looks a great car, in budget etc., but is not a diesel which I think could end up costing me dearly!!! garcon magnifique
More specifically, THIS Lexus 4x4. Bit over budget yet, but sit tight a few months. It's more economical and quicker than the X5 3.0d. And alot cleaner emissions-wise. And you don't get the baggage of the X5 image.
BrianFD3S
s80s are luxurious! anyway, i dont know what im talking about, im 16. why the hell would you want a lexus jeep? that is such a "bling bling" Rolex watch car. NewNiceMrMe
Sounds very much to me like it's a 4x4 Gino is after. If that's the case then the X5 3.0d is the finest one out there if its a combination of durability, quality, economy and space that you're after. Torino101
I still think these are sweet and you would be looking at £15,000 for a very nice one. But will be minimum 10 years old.

garcon magnifique
Well any of them on that page I guess. Lexus RX400h. Only just come out, so not many used ones around. Not sure what resale will be like on them, but I'd have thought they'll slip a bit at first. Very popular in Hollywood amongst those stars who want to do their bit for the environment, apparently. gino128
is that the £32k one? If that is the hybrid, I'll be up for that!!
