RedRobin
Hoping no-one ever needs it but somewhere in the hidden depths of digression of a thread a couple of people were asking about the tow hook, so here's a pic....It's a simple open-the-flap-and-screw-in job. Sorry for lousy quality pic.
silentandy
I found that out in the first week of ownership when the cover for it flew off!! The front one that people wanted to know about is behind the drivers side bumper cover on the right:
RedRobin
Is it where I have red ringed your pic?

silentandy
Thinking about it I'm guessing the actual hook is with the spare wheel, I haven't actually looked to see what's there since I got the car!
RedRobin
Doesn't that mean that you have to remove the whole panel as you have done before you can fix the tow hook?
silentandy
It does, but hopefully you'll never have to! It's only held on by one screw though.
JaxA3
Can you tow the DSG?
scotw
Don't see why not, if its in "N" it should be safe.
RedRobin
It's as Scott says....Select "N" and have the ignition on to allow steering....All as page 106 in handbook 3.2. So, DSG is no different. Another tip: If possible use a tow bar rather than a tow rope. Anyway, at this stage, we should all have breakdown cover either with VW or our insurer.
