silentandy
Last week I had an alloy repaired by chipsaway. Four scrapes were taken out and it's now as good as new. I was so pleased with the result I didn't check anywhere else at the time. But when I came to clean my car a few days later (she was dirty when he did the wheel) I noticed something odd - I couldn't clean the brake caliper. Try as I might I couldn't shift the brake dust from it, I normally use a pressure washer and the dust comes off easily to show the shiny red calipers. On closer inspection I noticed a small amount of silver paint on there, and then realised that the reason I couldn't remove the brake dust was because it was under a layer of oversprayed lacquer he'd sprayed on the wheel Is there anything I can do to take this and the silver paint off without affecting the red paint underneath? [/ QUOTE ] What a plonker!! I take it he hadn't heard of masking or wheel removal? I think the G3 might work but could be had work if there's a lot of paint on there. I would try just a little bit of cellulose thinner on a rag - just to take the worst off and then try the G3. Be careful not to go too mad with the thinners just in case it softens the caliper paint.(I'd think it'd be ok but better safe than sorry) BUB
malagus
Spot on. celly tinners is great for this purpose, and shouldn't harm the high heat finish on the calipers. Clay is not bad for thsi either, and a cutting paste would also work, but try the other two first.
