chriswastle
Is there any truth that VW have dropped Lazer blue and Candy white on the GTI due to lack of sales? I was a cats whisker away from buying the white and i think it still looks good. If this is the case then these colours will look very old very quickly, a bit like the tangerine orange you could get the mk4 in 1999!
silentandy
Laser blue is no longer available, I'm sure white is though. Have a look on the German configurator, laser blue disappeared off there a few weeks ago but white is still there.
RedRobin
Doesn't Laser Blue look very similar to Shadow Blue? Is it the same colour but named differently in different territories? Surely VW wouldn't dump Candy White. White is the German racing colour and also one of the original Mk1 colours.
simkna
Laser blue was a much lighter, richer blue rather like the nice metallic blue available on the latter Rovers. Shadow blue is much darker, but if caught in the right sunlight looks very nice. Si.

[/ QUOTE ] The two blues are totally different there nothing alike. Think of shadow blue as more a royal blue. Were the lazer blues more in your face blue. BUT the lazer blue is very much like the blue thats coming out on the R32 maybe they are going to make that colour take over from lazer blue. Snoopy
[ QUOTE ] hmmm... that lazer blue looks vaguely familiar... [/ QUOTE ] I guess thats your car? I saved so many pictures of GTIs on my harddrive when i was trying to make my mind up on colour i have no idea whos car was whos. Nice colour and if you like it does it matter if its still available now or not enjoy it is what i say only people that want this colour now will miss out. VW group a\s a whole often do this type of think remove colours and change them alittle and then sometimes reintroduce it 6 months later or later on, They seem to like to play with the colours available every 6 months or so. redbaron
Picked up my Laser Blue yesterday and I am very happy with the colour. Was originally thinking of getting the Shadow Blue, having seen the pics of Smudge's loaner, but when I saw it in the flesh it looked dull and flat. Although I do agree that in the right light (ie bright sunlight) it does look good. However I thought that the Laser Blue would look better under the not so sunny skies of Scotland. I did ask the dealer if he knew why VW had dropped Laser Blue, and suggested that it was just something VW liked to do now and again - agreeing with Snoopy's comment above. GTiCrow
Here is (I hope) pictures of an Aussie Shadow Blue GTi MkV (DSG Sunroof). I think the colour is great and the car awesome - had it two weeks 1220 klm already. http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c199/GTiCrow/PA200018.jpg http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c199/GTiCrow/PA200024.jpg http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c199/GTiCrow/PA200021.jpg http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c199/GTiCrow/PA200019.jpg

Only reason i picked this colour was one of my local dealers has had one in for ages secondhand in this colour so i got to see the colour in real life in many different weather conditions and really liked it, even these pictures are not exactly like it is but best i've seen so far of what its really like. Snoopy
Shadow Blues one of them colours that seems to change how light or dark it looks with the amount of light on it you can see that from the pictures in GTIcrow's post and also with these ones. As i said its a pain to see what it looks like in photos as its never exactly the same. PIC1 PIC2 PIC3

redbaron
Thanks! It does help that there are plenty of views like that up in this part of the world - it's just a question of picking which one to use as a backdrop. And there's always a fast, twisty road running by!
