Do you have any horror stories to tell me about the SMG? Whats on your motor? Brabus Posted June 3, 2003 Report Share Posted June 3, 2003 I've got manual shift on mine but having driven my mates SMG one a few times I wish I had SMG on mine. No horror stories that I know of and its alot nicer to have the possibility of an 'auto' in traffic. I say drive both versions and see what you think. I think you'll love the SMG gearbox. [/ QUOTE ] Yep, that red interior will definitely get on your tits after a while. Concerning the SMG I'd say that öf the M3's sold over here 70% are SMG. The shying away from SMG sounds like bollocks to me. Also regarding the options here are the ones worth having: Leather with heated seats 19 inch wheels (looks better) Harman Kardon sound system (like Bose in Audi) On board navigation 16:9 format (from 7/2001 onwards, I think!) Blue Posted June 3, 2003 Report Share Posted June 3, 2003 Lagoo: point1: red interiour? no it won't get on your tits mate, i got red in my car and i would pick it over black anyday from now on...even my GF that hates the color red, now says she actually would pick it herself i've seen various identical cars as mine, but with black leather, and basically they just look dull!!!! so if the red leather isn't too bright, go for it it'll keep your car more interesting and less dull... just change your dash with white dials... black dials are booring aswell point2: SMG or manual: i would pick the manual, the smg is cool and works really well, and your GF would also be able to use it without a problem BUT i've heard alot of bad things about it...them breaking after trackdays, using it hard, ... so don't know about that... resale value will also plummit with the SMG me thinks... point3: red exteriour? mmmmmm don't really know, but a M3 will look gorgious in any color, i would say: GO for it, if he gives you a bigger discount cause it's a RED one. Ideally I'd like to find a Steel Grey one with black interior The lighter colours really shows off the shape of the M3 better. Steel grey aint as common as the Silver as well. Adam Posted June 3, 2003 Report Share Posted June 3, 2003 well I've driven both SMG and manual and considered buying an M3 and I love in London so have been in Chris' position my thoughts er.. leather is std so not an option! seriously consider the SMG - according to Cheyne in SW London sales are about 50/50 but I reckon I would get the SMG if I lived in London red with red is OTT red interior is great but with Black or better Grey - and it is nicely 2-tone whereas (sorry) but I don't like the Porsche one with red steering wheel etc (Huggy Bear eat your heart out ) interior needs satnav/TV to make it look less boring 19" look a bit better but it is hard to tell the difference unless side by side with another M3 - get 'em if you can convertible + black leather = burnt arse so consider grey of not red also go for htd seats, park beepers, HK stereo and CD changer they do a beige/tan interior which I only like in certain commbos - exterior needs to be dark blue or black imho Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

CARACTERE 007 Posted June 3, 2003 Report Share Posted June 3, 2003 dude....a kid in my skool gets dropped off in a imola red m3 cab every day,....on the same trip up to work i always drive past 1 estoril m3 cab, a phoneix cab and the imola...and i have to say the imola stands out a mile!.....the estoril doesnt look as nice as i thought it would of,...but the red was amazing!...but maybe because they guy keeps it sooooo clean!
