Hudson
Hi, I have a 1999 A6 2.8 Quattro Tip, it has done 65k and i know that Audi recommend changing at 80k, but have also been told that age has also to be considered. What do you think ?? Am i sailing a little close to edge already ? And if so, a recommendation of a good independant in north Manchester (i know about Links and Delaney), would be appreciated. The car actually came from Links in Macc but given i have just purchased it (for the frankly silly price of £5k) and live near the Trafford Centre i do not really want to travel all that way.Cheers. cruiser647
It probably would not hurt ot get the cambelts done AND a gearbox fluid and filter change too. I know it is usually the more powerful A8's that need the gearbox fluid changing, but for only £100+, it might be worth it??? £5K - yep, bargain! Golfer
Use an "Audi-Trained" fitter for your cambelt change, it will involve MORE than just a belt.Pullys and water-pump should be inspected/renewed, also the holding bolts MUST be replaced. Hudson
Thanks for that, i was going to use John Delaney's in Stockport who i note has been recommended on the site. Do you also have to replace the water pump even if it is ok ??
Edd_W
It is deffinetly worth replecing the pump. If it seizes then it takes out the cam belt because it is cam belt driven.
