crasher
Ah, that Friday feeling.... This morning both my ABS and Traction control lights remained on after starting up. Since I needed fuel (again!!) i carried on my journey to my local garage to fuel, and the brakes seemed to work okay. On restarting after filling up they (the lights) went out. Do you think this is: (a) Just an early morning glitch (b) A forwarning of something far more sinister © The on-board computer having a bad day CHeers
nikw
I'd say that one or more of your ABS sensors is likely to be knackered. I VAG-COMmed my car after the ABS light came on once or twice, then started to come on every time after moving off from rest, and it revealed a faulty sensor. By the time I got around to visiting the stealer they found that both were faulty and replaced them. No ABS light since. BTW, it's worth knowing that the warranty on the sensors is two years rather than the usual one, which meant that I only paid for one of the two to be replaced. Find someone near you with VAG-COM and interrogate your car to see what's up. Several of us at the MK meets have it, for example.
crasher
Cheers Nik I dont have VAG-COM, but it's on my xmas list! I guess i'll call into my local stealer - i'm still covered by their warranty.
Milo
Hi, I don't usually post in here but noticed what the post was about. Earlier this week I had problems with my A4 with warning lights coming on. The traction control light was permanently lit, the glow plug light was flashing and I was getting an intermittent ABS warning light. When I went to the dealers it turned out to be nothing more than both brake light bulbs had blown (at the same time?) and that was what was causing the problems. It sounds daft I know but they changed the bulbs free of charge and I've had no problems since. Could it be a similar thing?
PSU
I had the same problem over a 5 month period but the ABS would also activate very slightly when pulling to a gentle stop such as traffic lights. It was very intermittent and was a bugger for Audi to find as it would only appear after a long journey. Visited Parklands Audi Gloucester a fews time over the period and following a replacement 'slip ring' in the steering column which did not fix the problem they diagnosed it was a faulty ABS sensor. It was replaced and has cleared the problem. Get it into Audi to check the ABS sensors out. It is classed as a safety item as they cannot guarantee the ABS/EPS would work so if you are still under warranty they will provide a courtesy vehicle. crasher
Hmmm, my car is no stranger to my local dealer (in fact i may still have my own parking space there!) - guess I better get it checked out. Oddly, this has co-incided with my brakes playing up (again). I had thought (and posted) that it may be my porsche discs warping again, but the vibrations i'm getting are intermittent, so may be down to the abs cutting in (as Raincoat mentioned). Thanks for the tips guys
