Paddy,

Nice discount, when I was buying last January , I went all over and the best discount I could get was €1000 on a straight deal. I ended up trading in my 02 Mark IV with Belgard , to my suprise they offered the best trade in value. I tried Fosters at the time and they were about €1500 behind belgard on the trade in ! But Belgard are famous for being robbers !

Anyway nice deal , the car will be a stunner , the colour is the business , I am going to clean mine up a bit and post some pics soon.

Thanks Ken,

Did you bother getting anything done with the kerbed wheel (Sorry to bring it up)?

I told my wife that I am going to look on eBay etc for a set of GTI 17" to have aside to the 18" - not often I get looks like the one she gave me!!

Bet now after yesterday morning's incident the wheel is secondary and you just love your GTI that little bit more?

My Dad bought himself a Golf 1.4 in Belgard - they too gave best trade in to him also so he went with them. We were not impressed though with them, I went up with him on the day to make sure he was not "rode" and they were a mess - he still has not got his second key for the car! But, at the end of the day you go where you get the best deal.

I am not trading in for the GTI - we are going to sell her civic on CBG or Carzone, boy racers will hopefully snap it up! I was told if I was doing a trade in then I could not expect much discount as I just don't think some garages want too many second hand.

Paddy,

Your right , I have forgoten about the wheel but not completely , I will do something about it. I noticed on my vehicle order form when I completed the purchase that they has discount of €2,700 on a price of €44,500 so I assume that was the max discount they could have offerd if I was not trading. That €2700 ultimately came off the trade in price of my Mark IV. Its just over 6% of a potential discount , so I reckon at 5% you did very well given the demand for the GTI's at present.
