neo283
Getting itchy feet and loking to upgrade to a 1.8T Quattro. The car is a minter, I just need to justify all the added costs to myself. How much are you guys paying for servicing? I Know the haldex oil needs changing every 20k. The belts & tensioners etc have been done. Anything else I'm missing? What about MPG? I'm assuming the Quattro system guzzles the juice! I know she's insurance group 15, so thats gonna cost me an extra couple of hundred. Cheers guys!
doogal1972
Running cost should be not too bad at all. You will notice a difference if you've come from a non turbo car mpg wise. I have a S3 so with the extra 45 bhp it won't be as good as the A3 TQ on fuel. I get 26mpg and I don't drive Miss Daisy around. Haldex oil change is not expensive circa 80 quid? Servicing is a couple of hundred so nothing too bad there either. Go for it mate, you'll love the extra power and quattro
Booster
I had one for 3 years. 40k service was around £500 but a normal service is around £300. Juice wise, around 25mpg round town and up to 35mpg on a run.
neo283
In line with what I expected then. Defo want some Quattro action! Love the A3 I've got at present, but it's never gonna be a patch on this one. Whats the 0-60 time? Any idea what to expect on trade in for my current motor? '98 A3. Non Turbo. 57k on the clock. Good condition. FASH. New Brakes all round. Usual stuff!

[/ QUOTE ] I hope that price is for a private garage doing the Haldex oil and filter change!? Audi charged me £185 a few months ago for it. doogal1972
Yes it is, I won't go near a stealer the prices they charge. If the work they do was that amazing and my car was still under wanarnty I'd go to a dealer, but IMHO they are rip off artists and the only reason to use them is if your car is still under warranty. Not to mention the arrogance. Audi dealers = no thanks! Just my opinion. That's why I put down a couple of hundred quid for service, not the 300 plus someone else had put. neo283
Good call. I don't agree with dealers at all. Use my trusty local Audi Specialist. 9 times out of 10 they're ex-Audi mechanics who got pissed off with working at a main stealers and set up an independant. Wallachie
I totally agree with you guys, I only use the stealer because of the warranty. When my last S3 hit 3 years old I went straight to a specialist, and as you rightly pointed out, the guy who owned the place was ex-Audi!!
Pontio
1.8T quattro's only have the extra haldex system but also have the 6 speed box so the consumption is pretty much the same but with more driving satisfaction. i am selling mine if you are interested. should be in the for sale section. Chillihead
I agree with all the comments, 0-60 is 7 ish seconds, I get 30 ish combined mpg and other than that, just been serviced details below. Full major (50,000) service all done, £218.00 all in. New spark plugs, oil and filter change, new air and pollen filter, brake fluid. Engine flushed and brake fluid flushed. Interior/exterior valet. Had not used any oil at all in ehem 11,300 miles!

Think I paid around £140 last time from a dealer, oil only at 20k miles is around £90 dealer prices.
neo283
Looks like I'm out of the running for her anyway. The guy won't give me a good enough price for my motor and the Quattro will be gone by the time I sell privately Was going for 5.5k too. Bargain!
