rjgreen4
We were travelling back from site and approaching a roundabout, when a 28 tonne wagon came around the corner of the roundabout so that is would be facing us, clipped the curb and rolled over in front of us. I quickly slammed on the brakes, whilst my dad was saying “put the car in reverse”, at this point I passed my phone over to our dad and said call the police, fire brigade and ambulance. I ran towards the cabin to hear a guy screaming, the engine of the truck was still running and there was copious amounts of water/liquid/fuel gushing from the truck. My main concern was getting the guy out before the truck blew, I climbed onto the top of the truck (in my suit) and noticed that the cabin was covered with glass and that he was bleeding, managed to get him out and the police and ambulance turned up. Seemed to have busted legs and a cut arm. Quite an achievement for a Wednesday afternoon, can still see the truck roll over onto its side in the back of my mind, quite scary. Was like a sketch from lethal weapon 4, thought the truck was going to blow.
Wallachie
Sounds nasty, but could have been so much worse if it had rolled onto another car or a person! Good to know there are still people like you around who are willing to get their hands dirty and help people, rather than just stand around and wait for the emergency services! cruiser647
Feck me! Excellent work geezer! Hope you feel good about that - as you should do! Was the driver being careless/too fast in how he clipped the curb?
rjgreen4
The cargo/container seemed to be really top heavy. He definitely clipped the curb, but only slightly. If we had been waiting 20 metres further, to access the roundabout then we would have been squashed. Really opens your eyes when something like that happens. Dusty
Well done for getting in amongst it and helping the guy out.... I suppose the bonus with Diesel (I'm assuming it was diesel) is that it's a lot harder to set on fire unless a flame is directly applied. Trust me... I've tried it with a diesel tanker... It's not like the movies!! I shot at it with normal ammo, then I used tracer, then I threw grenades at it, and I finally only managed to get it to ignite by firing a rocket launcher at it. and then it only burned and didn't explode... no fun at all.... PS.. it was in my previous life

cruiser647
Yep, diesel is a bugger to get burning! Needs a really good fire underneath it in the first place! Not like petrol - one whiff of smoke and kaboom!
