Audi A4 Avant (B6) headlights - brightness...

The lights on my Avant are not Xenons. When driving the car yesterday I noticed they're very dim. That could be because I'm used to the Bi-Xenons of the 6...but I don't think so.

Do any of you change the bulbs for something a little brighter? Anyone else not impressed with the light output of the standard car?

MrMe - i found the same issue! I have installed some Philips GT150 bulbs and blue sidelights and it has made a great difference! (see mini review). The light cascaded is near bright white (compared to the dull yellow) and the distance projected is very good indeed! In fact, on full beam they remind me of my Disco with a bank of spots!! (ok, not quite that good.... sekret.gif)

I did the same upgrade on my last car too - feels much safer. Only thing i have noticed is that i need to keep the lenses very clean in this weather, as they go very dull and yellow again through the salt / crap on the roads!!! grin.gif

Hope that helps! Of course, some think bulb changes are pointless - suppose its down to eyesight / expectation....? I recon ist £60 well spent.....

You'd be best specifying the bulbs, or even ordering them from www.powerbulbs.com first.

They told me to bring in the bulbs, leave them on the passenger seat and they'll give me back the OEM ones and I'd settle the £20 bill on collection.

Unlike Sheffield Audi who couldn't be arsed, but then said it would cost £45 per hour and couldn't say how long it would take!!!

Get the right dealer, and it's fine! They are easy enough to change following UBM's guides, but you have to have hands the size of a gnats chuff to get into remove one side. grin.gif

Halfords do I fitting service I think - buy the bulbs from them (they often have buy one, get one free) and get them to fit them for £5 (IIRC).

Ah ha! I asked a monkey at Halfords to fit a headlight bulb for me and when he saw it was an Audi he stopped dead in his tracks and told me to take it to a dealership.

With John_Carter's help, I'm now a dab hand wink.gif
