Golf mk4 stereo removal?

Does anyone know, or can anyone give instructions on how to remove the factory fitted stereo in a golf mk4? I am trying to connect an IPod kit into the car, but need to remove the stereo in order to do so, any ideas?

If you have the Gamma stereo, get yourself down to Halfords and ask one of the salespeople. You need two specialist pins to remove it. Very straightforward.

Anyway that I could do it myself, or anything I could use to get it out? It is the gamma stereo.

You need a couple of pins which are inserted into the sides of the radio which then allow you to pull it straight out.

As ^^^^ says, get yourself to your nearest motorfactors and they'll have some for few quid.

Easy job to do.

IF you look at your radio you will see two small slots towards either side - maybe 1mm by 5mm in size. Keys go in here, very easy to do yourself

The keys are flat with a couple of notches each side at the tip, leaving a "T" head. If I remember correctly they lock into the radio, allowing you to use the keys to pull the unit forward. I don't think a pen knife or screw driver blade will do the job. Every VW dealership mechanic seems to have dozens - I suspect every new radio comes with a set and they get pocketed by the person fitting the radio.

I got my removal pins off ebay for a couple of squids... very easy
