Dan32
Just playing with R32 configurator and after putting in leather Recaros (£2345 I hasten to add) a little note comes up on the bottom that some parts of the leather seats may be artifical leather. Are they taking the p*ss. Surely if you spend at least £1600 for leather upholstery (R32 seats in leather trim - and beige or anthracite - yuk!) you should get that. Really makes you wonder about our 'full' leather in the MKIVs (although don't want to open that can of worms again!). Surely if you upgrade in a BMW, you get full leather. RedRobin
It's the same for the Mk5 GTI. But do you really want all leather and baggy seats?
Snoopy
A lot of makes are doing this not Just VW though and imho for the price they take the pea.
RedRobin
I very much agree that they shouldn't charge so much for leather if it's only part.
Soprano
Hello Red! I agree about the leather, and am still amazed at how much it is, on a 3 series it is a £800 option. The standard leather is bad enough but the recaro leather is ridiculous. However, daft as I am, I just had to go for Recaro Leather I think its just what the R32 needs. RedRobin
Hi Soprano Yep, if I was buying I'd go for the Recarro seats too but I don't like leather seats and never have.
Snoopy
Anyone know if the recaro seats in the new GTI/R32 as an option are the same ones that are in the new Audi RS4 ?
Soprano
I got offered a car for delivery this week, but you just cant beat having the spec you want! (although its disapointing after having first enquired over a year ago that some people are actually driving them now before me!)I must add that driving my sisters mk5 gti convinced me I had to have the new R32. Good choice.
Dan32
Yes, Snoopy, the seats are the same as the RS4.
Bungle
Leather on a 3 series costs £1,220, and if you want it heated its a further £300, so £ 1,520 vs £1,645 (VW). Still too expensive. If you import through select heated leather costs about a grand, which is much more like it. The only 3 series where leather is £800 are the sport models which already have (very nice) alcantara seats, therefore the upgrade is cheaper.
