RedRobin
Just came across this web page and thought it may be of interest. Haven't read it properly yet....I'm told dinner is nearly ready!
TwoSheds
Apart from the extra performance the results are indeed stunning especially the claimed reduction in fuel consumption. The £2,400 cost is a bit of a downer perhaps ?

RedRobin
Sometimes I make dinner too - Actually I do mostly! The Lady Of The House is my 14yo daughter (I'm divorced) and just to make it worse for you....She's now making mince pies! I must digest that iS-Techno article tonight if I can. It's calmed down at last with me and MrMe (I think!) in the other thread.
younger
Ace find Red Sounds good! A sensible modification. I don't think it will improve the resale value but at the same time it won’t lose you money like some of the mods I see on this site. If you could fit it as an after sales product it would be worth looking at as the fuel savings could be a huge bonus over a few years ( If you intend to keep your car). I like the clever fuel knowledge, how many time have you been caught out ? No Shell garage. I will monitor the product and will consider it in my chariot. I own my own company so will try to put it through as a tax right off.... like my Safari! It was research!!! Honest Cheers.
RedRobin
Needs exploring more but costs the best part of £2,500 and that would buy a lot of miles on Optimax....Very approx 15,000-18,000 miles depending on how you drive. On the other hand that's probably only one year's driving and two at the most. Hmmm....Where's the nearest UK Abt partner? AwesomeGTI? Btw, bulls_eye, my Millteks are a very "sensible" mod....in my not so humble opinion. I used to run my own biz too - You go for it buddy!
RedRobin
I have sent these quezzies to Abt and will report back the answers when recieved: 1) - What is VW's attitude to such a modification? I assume it would involve 'tuning' the ECU and could therefore effect the VW warranty. 2) - What are the insurance consequences of installing iS-technology? I assume they would only look at the power increase but isn't this variable according to fuel type. 3) - How does iS-tech manage a mixture of fuel types in the same fuel tank? 4) - My GTI 2.0 FSI turbocharged engine is already giving close to 220bhp due to Milltek exhaust, and I wish to continue using Shell Optimax 98RON so what would installing iS-tech result in doing? And if my bhp power increased above 260 wouldn't I need to modify other components? 5) - What differences would there be between a DSG and a Manual transmission car when iS-tech is installed? 6) - The Abt iS web page quotes litre fuel comparisons but this means nothing to me, so what in real-world miles-per-gallon improvements could I expect? spankit
[ QUOTE ] I must digest that iS-Techno article tonight if I can. It's calmed down at last with me and MrMe (I think!) in the other thread. [/ QUOTE ] Red don't worry about mrme, his name says it all me me me me. Most of his post count comes from talking bull in the "anything but cars forum". Your much too bussy passing helpful information to worry about him. RedRobin
Some further news while I wait for a reply from Abt, is that modding a GTI with the iS-tech would not add anything to insurance - I just had a long detailed chat with mine (his work colleague sat next to him has a GTI - Mk2 I think). Simonl
hmm, i believe that when i see it. You just can never tell what's gonna push your premium up, any excuse IMO. I can't see how an insurer would ignore the opportunity of some extra £££'s
RedRobin
Well, I waited on the phone while they contacted the underwriters and they had the Abt web page info. The only extra charge would be if my bhp increased beyond the next 10% threshold....That's how it has been quoted and on my policy notes by Direct Line. They said I'm "obviously not a boy-racer"!!! ....Shut the feck up you lot!! I get a heavy discount for having a Trinny-wagon . Btw, do you have a phone # for VW UK please? (Saw you posted it a while ago). Cheers, Robin
