Incidentally, if you want obscene....a property developer in Newcastle is advertising 10 flats that have just been developed in the centre.

They're in the area of Gray Street so it's architecturally and historically important.

Some are 1 bedroom, some are 2 bedroom. None have parking facilities.

The developers are open to the whole lot going in a single sale - for £8m. So an average of £800k per flat.

Madness.

In respect of Wynyard, there is a huge house for sale not too far from it in Elwick....and amongst a list of other properties advertised at up to £3m.....yet it's price says P.O.A. I dread to think!!!!!!

Lunacy.

That's alot of money for 8 flats!! But no doubt someone will pay it!

One of our clients at work is a large developer around Edinburgh, and has a development on the go at the moment called Platinum Point, when the penthouses went on sale, they started at £1.2m!

If any of you know Edinburgh, it's located down in Leith, on reclaimed land, close to some parts of town where you wouldn't dare to walk alone at night!

Near the Brittania? Feck, that's horrible down there!!!!!

We got stranded waiting for a cab down there. Waited a sodding hour for one and it wasn't very pleasant.

From the balcony where the Brittania is situated (i.e outside Ocean Terminal), if you look straight across the water - that's Platinum Point - a 484 unit development.

I was really disappointed with the Brittania too. I'm not sure why, but it just didn't live up to expectations. This was 2 years ago by the way.

That seems to be the opinion of most people who go to the Brittania, I've never been and have no urge to go. I think you need to be a die hard Royals fan to enjoy it.

The house prices in Darras Hall aren’t all crazy money. We recently moved from a 4 bedroom house with ½ an acre of land in Meadowvale (just off northern way) and we certainly didn’t get 7 figures for it. The sky high prices tend to be for the houses on Runnymede road due to Alan Shearer and co moving in over the last 5 – 10 years. The prices in Darras have always been reasonably high but over the last 10 years have simply gone through the roof.

I personally know someone who purchased an acre of land with a run down bungalow on it on Runnymede for less than 500k 10 years ago. They knocked it down and built themselves a nice new house for a total cost of less than 750k. I can only imagine what it’s now worth!
