syeldham
Is there any free software out there that I can use to copy DVDs (such as Black Books or whatnot) onto a blank DVD? I have no idea how to do this or even if it's possible to do with official DVDs. Help would be, as always, appreciated.
syeldham
Add: I have one DVD/CD RW +/- Drive, and one CDRW drive that probably won't be much help here...
Rustynuts
Nero burning software isn't free, but there's a free trial to see if you like it. DVD Shrink is free and can be used to compress a dvd file larger than 4.7Gb to fit on a standard disc. You'll need something like "dvd decrypter" or "Anydvd" to back up your copy protected discs. Anydvd is shareware, but it's the best tool out there. Regularly updated to include the latest copy protection. dvd decrypter used to be available, but is no longer, however, the original author of this program has released a free tool called Imgburn which is free. I've not tried it.
Sponge
I use DVD Shrink. It's extremely easy to use. Highly recommended.
Regulator
DVD shrink is good. Even easier to use is DVDXCOPY Platinum but I think they have made that software illegal now. Worth having a look on the SVP Communications website, I know they used to sell them.
syeldham
Excellenet help, thanks guys - AnyDVD is now on a 21 day trial basis too - is anyone prepared to bother sending the unlimited use version they have to me? I'd be very grateful, of course - PM me if you can please. Thanks guys!
syeldham
Scrap that, I've got a pirate patch from my mate downstairs. Would be happy to try and forward it to any who want it mind. Patches the trial software of AnyDVD, CloneDVD and CloneCD.
Turrican
Also try DVDFab, it's free and gets regularly updated. www.doom9.net is also a great site for DVD backups etc...
Jon
I use Nero with DVD Shrink and DVD decrypter. Works fine Jon.
apreading
DVDFab is just about the only one which will currently allow you to 'backup' Madagascar - they patched it to beat the new security within like 2 days of the DVDs release!
