spliffyaid
After lurking on the forum for a while, i decieded to join today and to go buy a Haldex unit (today).........fitted it (only took an hour) and blimey, it does change the handling of the car very nicely !! Turned off the ESP and went for a boogie and had some nice sensations, never felt the back end of the car tramp before looks like im gonna have to learn to drive it again I was gonna dent the credit card real bad and get it supercharged at AMD, however, i race motor bikes as well and havent got enough money for next years season yet, but it will come ............Its a great little car (had it for about a year now) drove a C2 996 before (just for a bit of car history about me) So hi all, and please forgive my drunken rambling postings
R32North
Welcome to TSN, drunken rambling posts are a speciality of some TSN members. Good to hear you're liking you R32 and have to rediscover it after fitting the Haldex.

pomme
Hiya and welcome. I am interested in how eay you found the haldex to install, as i am going to get one. And was thinking of going to go to AMD to do, but if its relatively easy to do, ill give it a go.
spliffyaid
I went to Awesome GTI (only 30 mins down the road from me) bought it, got it home, jacked the car up, whacked it on axle stands, spent 1/2 hour looking for it **oops** found it, worked wiring back, all i needed was an 8mm spanner, a 4mm allen socket (1/4 inch is good) some rag too soak up oil spillage (only a couple of drops) couple of screwdrivers to push wiring through (no i didt damage it) and thats about it. Having said that i have good tools, think we used some long nose pliers on it as well...but that was about it I would have liked more height to work under but that was down to the height i could/couldnt get on my jack...... IMHO, its tight, its fiddly but if you have 2 hrs to kill. you'll nail it OH, have an elastic band as well (keeps gasket in place when lining it up) once you have the bolts in, cut the band and pull it out (whole) Bobs ya uncle "_"

mattcony
[ QUOTE ] Isnt there a law where you can kill ppl that dont have sanp on, but want them ? [/ QUOTE ] LMAO I wish there was, they caught the guy that stole them, they got him on DNA from a ciggy butt that i found between to pains of broken glass He admitted coming to steal the car that was in the garage but when the dum ass broke in the cylinder head was lying on the garage floor and the pistons were laid out on the work bench so he wasn’t going very far in it Insurance did pay me out though only problem is, when you get sent a cheque for £4.5k its hard to spend it all again on tools cheers matt
spliffyaid
True, but if you have had good tools, its hard to go back ? isnt it ? spliffyaid
It drives like a wheel real drive car "sometimes", As i mentioned, the back end tramps when giving it some round corners and just seems to handle better. It doesnt eliminate the understeer altogether (nothing will, cause once you exceed the slip angle of the tyre you will get understeer) but does lesson it Just feel like i have to get to know the car all over again, which is good, cause it continues to be fun to drive Is it worth the money ? dunno yet but the way things are going, i would say yes
spliffyaid
[ QUOTE ] Welcome to the nut-house Spliffyaid [/ QUOTE ] Cheers Mook I can promise you i wont do anything to make it a saner place

spliffyaid
Thanks for that, i think i may be confused (nought new there then) i bought some struts that go from front and rear suspension mounting points, over to the other side (Neuspeed ones) but they are above the engine and below the rear seats, these are different...I assume they are worth the cash outlay ? Must be the top braces i have ? I dont wanna get in to modding the suspension of the car, MY mistakes when driving the car hard are what causes it to react the way it does, not the car............ Maybe i need a few days with Don Palmer ? Before i start SC or TC the car, i need to be able to drive it to its limits, as is, or its a waste of money, will these anti roll bars improve handling further ? yes/no/maybe ? Thanks (im sat here blowing next years race fund out of the bank ................ )

jimmyp
[ QUOTE ] will these anti roll bars improve handling further ? [/ QUOTE ] I've been for a spin in Mook's car and he has the antiroll bars front and back and strut braces top and bottom, and the difference is amazing, and the car definatly handles soooooo much better, i won't go on about as i haven't got these yet but compared to my stock set up it's well worth the money and is next on my list of mods. spliffyaid
Ill have a chat with the guys at Awesome, everytime i walk in i sure they think "Chi-ching" I traded down from a 2002 C2 996 with a GT3 bodykit on it, cause i couldnt afford to keep up with the tweeks i wanted to do to it.........(plus the milage i was doing) Hope my R dont go the same way, mind im sure it wont, paid nearly 40K for the above car, paid 22K for the R (6K on the clock, on an 04 plate and as loaded as loaded can be) if i sink 10K into it, im gonna be blowing M5's and 997's out i hope....(only prob is ppl that normally have M5's and 997's cant bloody drive em !! LOL )
