shark_90
Not often you get an IRQ conflict in XP, as anything with an ATX power supply uses logical IRQs. What devices are causing the conflict?
Ritey
Vodoo 3 graphics and Wireless card (its an old beast) and your right about XP! I can't get around XP fixing the IRQ's ...
shark_90
You won't be able to change the IRQs in XP mate, they all share IRQ 9 which it then splits into logical IRQs..that sort of thing isn't meant to happen. Have you tried putting the devices in a different order on the motherboard?
Ritey
Every combo possible and it just jumps from either conflicting with the graphics card, or the real time clock
shark_90
Chuck it away and buy a new one for 20 quid, sounds like it might be incompatible with your motherboard.
Ritey
Probably, as mentioned its an old machine I was hoping would just sit there. Back to the drawing board

Thorburn
Turn on PnP OS in the BIOS if its available Windows XP only uses Logical IRQ's if this is enabled, otherwise you CAN set the IRQ's...... But yeah you're probably best off throwing it away, the Voodoo 3's Windows XP driver support is dire.
shark_90
Chances are there won't be enough IRQ's though.. hence the need for logical ones!
Thorburn
[ QUOTE ] Chances are there won't be enough IRQ's though.. hence the need for logical ones! [/ QUOTE ] Yep, but they'll only come into play when you turn that setting on
shark_90
I suppose if there aren't many devices it might be ok? Worth a try anyway
Jon
The other option is to go into the BIOS and issue a reset ESCD data command which will hopefully fix it. Jon.
Gaunty
I had a similar problem when I tried installing a second graphics cardin my machine, it conflicted with the wireless adaptor too strangely enough. I got around it by removing the wireless card then installing the graphics card, once everything was working I put the wireless card back in and XP knew what to do. It might not work but is probably worth a try before giving up and spending cash.
