ChriS3
I've had the little blue S3 for two years now, and I've finally got it booked into Star Performance next week to get a re-map, CDA induction kit, a Forge Eliminator DV, a new MAF and a trio of Samco hoses. I'd rather get the engine tweaking out of the way in one go but I'm new to Audi tuning. Suggestions for any other little bits would be appreciated. I'm hoping to get around 270-280bhp, I'll let you know how it goes...
Wallachie
A word of advice, make sure your insurance company are aware of your modifications and that your policy will cover them. If you don't, you'll face the wrath of MrMe and others on here..... (See post in General Cars)
ChriS3
Cheers for the advice, unfortunately I've already been sued by Direct Line for not telling them things after it all went badly wrong

I was a bit naive about the whole thing and learned in another thread that my insurance wasn't valid due to my remap. I contacted Direct Line this morning and got the whole thing sorted, extra cost was just under £100. What happended to you that DL sued you? ChriS3
By a bizarre twist of fate, they mis-spelled my name and lost the case. I'd run into the back of someone, but the Janspeed exhaust on my fiesta hadn't been reported. It's definately not worth the risk for an extra £100 or so. I think my car needs a bit of a re-tune, sometimes doesn't run as smoothly as I think it should.

ChriS3
Well, just driven home after spending the day with Jim at Star Performance and I'm impressed! Unfortunately I didn't get all the things I was after, the BMC CDA airfilter hadn't arrived, and one of the intercooler hoses was supplied too short. Got a few extras to make up; decided to get cruise control fitted. It's no doubt going to help calm the temptation to 'play' when driving on the motorway - if you're foot's not on the pedal you're not going to drive to fast. Should save on the fuel bill and the license points. Besides, having 44,000 miles on the car, it's nice to have the feeling of a new indicator clunk when you need to turn a corner. The re-map takes the car to 260bhp. Not as much as some others claim, but the delivery is fujeezzas good. There's a little turbo-lag, expectedly, but it just keeps going and going when it's all spooled up. Probably the biggest improvement is the pull from 4500rpm, where you'd previously be running out of puff. Personally, the look of the MTM power/torque curves doesn't look that appealing to my style of driving, lots of initial shove then tapering off. The Star Performance re-map is a lot like the original only far more incessant. I also added the Forge Eliminator DV. Nice, black, silent. Last thing I wanted was the fftiishh fart look-at-me noises that just don't seem right coming from german cars. Needless to say the drive home was good. Managed to get a bit of A/B roads, motorways, traffic jams, round-abouts, and even a stretch of my favorite back road. It's going to take a bit of getting used to! The cruise helped get a decent 33mpg for most of the way home, but the car makes such a good noise when you do a 40mph poke of the accelerator that the overall mpg of the drive isn't ever going to look good. Big thanks to Jim and all the guys at Star Performance. Great job, and good customer service. Just need to start saving for all the other little bits.... Forge Tie Arms Haldex Brakes!!! Turbo Manifold OCT Intercooler The list goes on
