A3Floyd Posted July 3, 2003 Report Share Posted July 3, 2003 I was driving down the M20 last night, down the long hill towards the merge with the M26. Most of the locals will know that this is a pretty good section for some decent speed (as long as you keep yer eyes open for the plod). Anyway, I was stuck behind a queue of cars doing about 80mph and there was a Jag S-type behind me giving it large so i thought 'fool, i've got an S3, there's no way he'll keep up...' so when the traffic cleared, i dropped it down to 5th (i love saying that!) and floored it expecting this damned jag to slowly fade into the distance but i couldn't lose the he didn't make groud on me but i didn't make any distance on him either Now, i'd have thought that the S3 would have shown a clean pair of heals to one of them. It wasn't anything special by the look of things. It def wasn't the silly-fast version. It just looked like a bog-standard jag! Whats all that about!!! S3Bangs Posted July 3, 2003 Report Share Posted July 3, 2003 To be honest..IMO, in the real world, alot of the high performance cars (S3 incl.) mucking about on the roads really wont leave a lot of each other for dead on the straights... Ive tried it on with many many a mota's on my travels and sometimes you win, sometimes you lose ...I thought M3's were like killers... even though it left me... it wasnt creeping away like mad.. and there have been some crazy old cars which have kept up with me as well..all in all, appreciate what you have really..its quick, but still not a rocket neither is any other car out there.. I must say that in a straight line acceleration fight my dads 323 (auto) was quciker than my A3 (180bhp) due to the car being auto. I dont mean standing start but when you are rolling at 50mph+ In the M3 i wasnt hugely quicker than anything really, faster yes but not wow hes miles behind. But must say best "race" was against 911 GT3 on the M4, he looked pissed off when he couldnt loose me, however he had a much much nicer car.
