Muppetboy
I'd go new, import or not! Used GTI's are so expensive (good for us owners!) and personally think at these prices new is better! Whatever you do just get one, you wont regret it!
oxfordlad
Oh I will be getting one! ASAP and your right, used prices are silly Will ring euroimports during the week or tomorrow. Keep the advice coming and thanks! Thanks for the
Simonl
Mate your spec is so basic anyway, just buy new and spread your loan payments out over an additional 6 months. Flat black, manual, 3dr!
Tarmac_Terrorist
I had a similar experience at my local stealers so drove 18 miles down the road to another one and got brilliant service - the best I've ever experienced. VW does seem to have a problem!
Melchior
If you want a new UK dealer supplied car with a £600+ discount, I can recommend the people that supplied mine. DSG auto.

Oli
All german cars are imported! And if you do over 60000 miles in the first two years there is no third year warranty!!!!!!! .........and Ill be close to that! Bothered???!!!
oxfordlad
NHS, I spoke to Richard.. Really very impressed with the service they offer. I am getting really close to ordering!!!!!
nhs
Great stuff When you order from overseas there are additional options that you can't get in the UK. These include - special colour options (search for Colour Choices on this forum) including the R32 colours.... Also the storage pack in the leather seats Don't forget to order highline, and consider the ipod connection! Have fun ordering - and often the spec can be changed until about 3-4 weeks before manufacture if you want something extra or to change an existing item..... oxfordlad
The spec I have so far is this: 3dr, Flat black (prefer the luster over metallic), 18" alloys and centre arm rest. You are spot on with the highline and the ipod, I will get that quote update! Thanks mate! Man I am so tempted. We are moving house in the next few months, so having 2 cars now could be a pain, so the wait will actually be of benefit. I will also ring up to see what their part ex deal would be like. Thanks for your help, I know with euroimports you may be paying a little bit more, but for piece of mind its very good and your still making a heck of a saving. Can you think of any other options it is worth getting? (dont want leather or DSG or xenons to be honest, can live without them!) David
stevie_d
David> you've got all of the crucial ones tbh (i.e. the highline and the arm rest). All the others, such as leather, DSG etc are personal choices and people are split either way! p.s. good to see another 3dr on the way, I'm starting to feel outnumbered over here
oxfordlad
Has to be a 3dr for me, missed having one! The ipod optional extra is coming to about 350 so going to leave that one... Seen you can buy those for 80 quid on ebay and fit it yourself (info from UKMKIVS)

Oli
I would carefully consider having flat black, as the paint gets older, it shows up marks more and more, and unless you look after your paintwork, can look very tired very quickly
oxfordlad
I know what your saying, but I am a bit of a cleaning and waxing freek This is my current golf (144,000 miles)!

stevie_d
My current scratches mainly come from car washes, but when I get my GTI I'll only wash her by hand £2,100, jesus, I nearly got £10k more than that Mind you, I've only done half the miles as you! I've just started using zymol, which is great, as it's very easy to use and I'm a lazy chappie
oxfordlad
I think i should be able to get nearer 4k 3.5k on the open market, just was very funny! Use a AG wash mit, you will never have scratches again. Car washes...... ARGGGHHHH!!! lol Zymol, your too posh
stevie_d
[ QUOTE ] Zymol, you're too posh [/ QUOTE ] I was going to go for a dealer car clean thingy (Autoglym or Supaguard), but that was going to work out more than a complete kit from Zymol, easy choice imho
oxfordlad
Good thinking You can always get some diamondbrite later down the road too, that will cost you like 40 quid and does the same job as the supaguard.
petsy
the thing I don't like about diamondbrite is that you need to "top it up" monthly when washing unlike supagard.
