Plums
Guys, Having followed some of your previous threads, your set ups, with the cable appearing in the glovebox, centerarmrest or by the handbreak, look great. I've just bought a Dension Ice Link Plus and am looking for a similar thing but how do i get it from the back of the radio to appear in these places with out damaging the car? Desperate not to damage the new car! Cheers for any advice

Cheers for any advice [/ QUOTE ] to get it into the armrest (like mine) you need to remove some of the central console trim to thread the cable through under the handbrake and out at the ash tray at the rear. Then remove the armrest and it should just thread through a gap in the hinge..... To get into your glovebox, you wil probably need to cut a hole in the casing to thread it into there. Not the best location anyway...... HTH?
Plums
Thanks Pooh-Bah, With that in mind, i am not at all experienced with tinkering with new cars; am i better taking this to a stealer/Halfords and getting them to do it? Is it worth throwing money at the problem to avoid broken bits of interior/electronics?
Soapsuds
its very easy, but AVOID halfords - they are generally monkeys that work there.... if you aint fussed about spending money, get a stealer to do it, but i imagine they wont want to put it into the armrest and will charge you £100+VAT per hour for labour. If you are really scared about pulling it apart, simply get the Ice Link with the mount and use a Brodit no-holes clip-on mounting. All you need to do then is pull the stero out to fit and route the wire around the side of the glove box to mount on the dash / central console
bells0
Just ordered an Audi ipod link from Nelson and will be trying the same soon - would rather have in arm rest - gonna leave it to my Bro to sort - he is the mechanical 1!! Will the audi adapter reach from the stereo to the arm rest though??
craigyb
I fitted one at the weekend into an A4 cabby, the cables are quite long and should have no issues reaching the armrest. I fitted into the central console cubby hole that the cabby is blessed with.

Sponge
Installing it the same way I've done mine involves no cutting to thread the cable. With the radio out, open the glove box and prise apart the trim. You can then easily thread the cable between the panels and into the centre console space. My host seems to be down at the moment, so I can't post a picture.
Plums
Sponge, Great car you have! Good Choice! Like the idea of what yor doing there, very grateful if you could post a couple of pics once your interweb is up and running. Cheers
Sponge
Unfortunately I didn't take any pictures during the installation. But here's an after shot: Behind the headunit there is a piece of stiff foam. It can be pushed to one side to pass the cable through. There are some more shots of my installation here.
